Cookies ‘n Cream Nuggets by 450 North Brewing

By the time this post is released, I should have closed on my house and moved to Tampa, Florida. I took this pic as renovations were being completed on my house prior to selling so everything is a wreck. Selling your house on your own is really frustrating and satisfying all at once. Deep down, I really hate it. I just want it to be over. So, I thought I’d drink a little!

450 North dropped this can two weeks before Black Friday in November. I drank a couple then and took notes, but I’m just now getting around to it. I previously reviewed Dark Star and Double Stacked Flapjack Nuggets from 450 North and thought they were pretty good. Compared to their hazy IPA’s, well, their stouts are getting better. So let’s see how this beer does.

Cookies 'n Cream NuggetsCookies ‘n Cream pours like motor oil in a glass. What little head there is disappears quickly, leaving no head ring at all. Oreo cookies on the nose with some slight roasty bitterness.

This is a medium-bodied beer, with a creamy mouth feel but in my opinion needs to be creamier. Sweet chocolate in the mouth and a hint of vanilla, I assume to simulate the creamy middle of the Oreo cookie. There’s some nice dark chocolate bitterness on the backend. I feel like I’ve had this beer before but can’t quite put my finger on what it was that was similar. It does have a bit of an Oreo cookie aftertaste. I can almost taste the bitter chocolate residue after dunking it in a glass of milk. That’s well done by 450. I thought their Dark Star stout was good, just not great. Cookies n’ Cream upped their game. We’re not quite in the territory of other sweet stouts but we’ve inched a tad closer. Could this be better? Absolutely. Peanut Butter Pieces is coming up soon so be looking for it! Cheers!
