I picked up this bottle on a recent trip to Indiana for a guitar expo. I’ve always enjoyed and been fascinated by the mouthfeel that beers like Guinness are able to achieve. Left Hand Brewing encourages hard pours for this one to activate the nitro element. While I’ve recently discovered Nitro cold brew coffee, this beer has been a staple in my fridge for several years.
Pour hard!
We’re always taught never to do an aggressive pour, but this beer recommends it on the side of the bottle. The nitro makes this an extremely creamy beer. Unbelievable lacing like a Guinness, only better. It does have a ton of dark chocolate and coffee bitterness but the creamy mouthfeel is such a treat. I’ve had the non-nitro version of this beer and it’s just not as good. If you like your beers creamy with notes of dark chocolate and coffee then this is for you. I did find it hard to keep in the glass because it was so good I just kept wanting to drink it. If you’re just getting into craft beer, I’d wager to say this is a good first foray into stouts, porters, or brown ales. Any coffee lover should like this beer.
